Box Frames or Shadow Frames
- With Standard picture framing, the glass sits against the reveal of the frame and is kept away from the art by the depth of the mount.
- With box frames or Shadow Frames , there is a greater depth in the frame moulding and with the insertion of fillets, a gap is created between the glass and the work.
What they are suitable for?
- Ideally suitable for artefacts that are essentially 3D.
- But also a picture framing technique regularly used to enhance the overall effect of the picture frame.
